Larger Planes Need Larger Runways

100% of the time, there is a huge difference between results achieved on exit when comparing the owner that says,

“I’d like to prepare to sell my practice in the next year and a half,” versus the one that says “I’m looking at an exit in 3 years.”

Where results get compromised on a shorter runway:

  • Favourably influencing revenue can only be done with quick, easy changes
  • Lease renegotiation results are far more limited
  • There’s no time left to make corporate structure changes, which can lead to six-figure tax increases
  • The exit strategy has to be dictated more by time than it is by vision
  • Expense analysis and operational review doesn’t permit levers to be pulled that will show up on the financial statements the bank will evaluate for a buyer
  • The demand on the owner increases. Preparation in a shorter time requires more of a scramble
  • Personal readiness is assumed, not tested, and the likelihood of remorse after selling is higher

18 months sounds like a long time. But it often takes 9 months to list and sell a practice. And those 9 months involve a significant emotional demand and workload. Subtract that 9-month sale window from each timeline, and the real prep runway is 9 months versus 27 months. So the question becomes, “In three seasons, can you create the same opportunity you’d be able to create in 27 months?” It’s an unequivocal “No.”

Exit planning shouldn’t be about getting ready to be done. When executed right, it’s about building a launchpad for your next chapter.

We are here to bring you greater returns for when that moment comes. We prepare you to achieve great success personally, professionally, and financially, before it’s time to sell. We’ve formalized an exit process that breaks down emotional complexity, builds a strategy, squeezes the lemon on value, gives the time it takes to realize that value, and prepares the execution so that you don’t have to be the quarterback of your succession.

From there, you’ll be ready to list with the brokerage of your choosing, and both you and they will be thrilled with your preparation.

Our process provides:

  • A personal ROI that creates clarity, ensures readiness, and prevents regret.
  • A professional ROI that maximizes business readiness, business attractiveness, risk reduction, and transferability.
  • A financial ROI that finds the levers we need to pull for you to achieve the value multiple you want.

If we can’t be sure that we can make you money, we don’t take you on as a client.

A larger plane needs a longer runway for a successful takeoff. The same is true for launching your practice exit.

We have room to onboard 3 practice owners – Would you like to be one of them? Let us know and we can explain how it all works over a call.

PS. If you’d like our personal readiness, business readiness, and business attractiveness one-pagers, and you weren’t at The Impeccable Exit webinar last month, hit reply and we’ll deliver these to your inbox. No catches. No nonsense.
